Cathedral City Council Honors Two Outstanding High School Students with Street Naming Ceremony

Cathedral City Mayor Nancy Ross, Mayor Pro Tem Raymond Gregory, and Councilmembers Ernesto Gutierrez, Rita Lamb, and Mark Carnevale unveiled two new street signs on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, to honor two high school students from Cathedral City for their academic excellence.

The Annual Student Street Naming Ceremonies recognized Mr. Diego Jauregui of Mt. San Jacinto High School and Ms. Kimberly Rodriguez Nunez of Cathedral City High School by renaming the street adjacent to their schools for one year.

Diego Jauregui

Diego Jauregui graduated one semester early from Mt. San Jacinto High School and is currently enrolled and attending College of the Desert. During his time at MSJHS, he served as the school’s Student Board Representative for Palm Springs Unified School District and was an active member of both the School Site Council and the school Esports team. Diego is pursuing his passion through COD’s Culinary Arts program with the goal of becoming a chef. He was chosen by the school’s staff for this honor due to his academic success, significant contribution to the school community, and his positive attitude and demeanor that helped Mt. San Jacinto maintain a positive school culture.
