Cathedral City Fire & EMS marked a significant milestone today (July 1, 2025) with the official rollback ceremony for Medic 22, the department’s fourth ambulance, made possible through the overwhelming community support of Measure W.
Measure W Success Enables Enhanced Emergency Services
The celebration comes as a direct result of Measure W’s passage last November, which received remarkable support from 74% of voters. The measure funds critical improvements to emergency medical services, neighborhood street paving, and integration with the Desert Recreation District (DRD).
To address increasing service calls while maintaining emergency response times, Measure W specifically funded the acquisition and staffing of this fourth ambulance. The City Council had previously approved both the ambulance purchase and authorization for six new firefighter/paramedic positions to provide 24/7 staffing coverage.
Team Recognition and Growth
During today’s ceremony, Cathedral City Fire & EMS also honored recent promotions and welcomed new team members through a badge pinning ceremony.
Promotions recognized include:
- Christopher Dietz: Fire Engineer to Fire Captain
- Joe Richardson: Firefighter/Paramedic to Fire Engineer
- Juan M. Ramirez: Ambulance Operator to Firefighter/EMT
New recruits welcomed to the team:
- Anthony Nissan: Firefighter/Paramedic
- Tyler Kramer: Firefighter/Paramedic
- Jeremy A. Zuccaro: Firefighter/Paramedic
- Ryan Bavier: Firefighter/Paramedic
- Charles Melvin: Ambulance Operator
Community Investment in Public Safety
The successful implementation of Medic 22 represents the community’s direct investment in enhanced emergency medical services. With this fourth ambulance now in service, Cathedral City residents can expect improved response times and expanded coverage as the city continues to grow.
The rollback ceremony took place at 9:00 AM at Cathedral City Fire & EMS headquarters, located at 32100 Desert Vista Road, celebrating both the new equipment and the dedicated personnel who will serve the community.
