Cathedral City Mayor Mark Carnevale, Mayor Pro Tem Nancy Ross Sworn Into Office

At the special City Council meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2023, Mark Carnevale, with his wife Rhonda, friends, and family in attendance, took the oath of office to become Cathedral City’s mayor. Current Councilmember Nancy Ross also took the oath of office with her sister Dawn by her side and will serve as Mayor Pro Tem.

Mayor Carnevale thanked former Mayor Rita Lamb for her leadership and service, particularly during Tropical Storm Hilary, an unprecedented storm system currently estimated to have caused more than $126 million in public and private property damages throughout all Riverside County. Cathedral City’s mayor position rotates every year starting at the first regular council meeting in December.

Mark Carnevale was elected to the City Council in November 2014. He ran on the principles of being a careful listener to his constituents, improving police and fire services, and increasing economic development opportunities in the north side, downtown as well as targeted areas throughout Cathedral City. Mark has also been deeply involved in the mission to combat homelessness.

The next City Council meeting will start at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024. You can join in-person or watch the meeting live from home on the City’s YouTube channel, cable channel 17, www.CathedralCity.gov or DiscoverCathedralCity.com and click on CCTV.
