Cathedral City Public Library Is the “Coolest” Place to Be this Summer

Are you looking for a cool place this summer to beat the heat?  The Cathedral City Public Library located at 33520 Date Palm Drive will serve as the official SCE cooling center in Cathedral City.  The cooling center at the library is available Monday through Saturday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm and on Sundays from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.  For more information or to inquire about other locations throughout the Coachella Valley, go to: https://www.sce.com/residential/rebates-savings/energy-savings-tips/Cool-Center-Locator

Over the past several years, the Cathedral City Senior Center has served an official “cooling center,” however programming expansion for seniors has left them with no additional space to accommodate the annual cooling center program. Nevertheless, members and the public can take advantage of the many classes and activities that are offered during the summer in the larger air-conditioned rooms and overflowing into Tierra Del Sol space next door. They include food pantry, Grandparents Raising Grandchildren, Excel at Yourself fitness class, birthday brunch, ASL words and phrases, bingo, bridge, Mac Users Group, Constituent Services with office of Assemblyman Eduardo Garcia, square dance with Boots and Squares, Senior Advocates of the Desert, LifeStream Blood Bank (July 12, 9 am to 3 pm), Care Pathways (12-week course in caring for an older adult), knit and crochet club and Deaf Advocates, among many others. Also, registered participants enjoy lunch at the senior center on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

You will find a full schedule of activities on the senior center’s website:  www.CathedralCenter.org
