City Council Approves Drone Light Show as Part of 8th Annual Cathedral City LGBT Days

The City Council of Cathedral City approved a gift in the amount of $50,000 from Grizzly Entertainment for a drone light show on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Cathedral City LGBT Days presented by Agua Caliente Casinos. The approval took place at the regular meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2024.

Grizzly Entertainment conducted a 200-drone unit light show at the Cathedral City Hot Air Balloon Festival in both 2022 and 2023, as well as LGBT Days in 2023. They have offered the same for the 8th Annual Cathedral City LGBT Days. The purpose of the donation is for the benefit of the public’s entertainment and to enhance the quality of programming for one of the City’s signature events.

The drone show will be located at the same site as the 2023 Balloon Festival, which is located closer to the Cathedral City Senior Center and offers better sightlines for viewing inside the amphitheater. It will take place on Saturday, March 9, 2024, after comedian River Butcher performs at the Agua Caliente Casino in Cathedral City, which starts at 8 p.m. The drones have minimal noise, especially in comparison to fireworks.

As California’s first Pride event of the year, the 8th annual Cathedral City LGBT Days presented by Agua Caliente Casinos again brings together numerous LGBTQ+ celebrities, artists, performers, media, community leaders, Coachella Valley residents and visitors for an unforgettable weekend of live entertainment, community engagement and fun activities from March 8th-10th, 2024. For the third year in a row, Cathedral City LGBT Days is produced by Soundskilz Productions, a national entertainment production agency headquartered in Temecula, CA.
