City Council Honored Artists for the Public Bench Beautification Project

On Wednesday, the City Council of Cathedral City honored fifteen artists who participated in the first round of the Public Bench Beautification Project at the Cathedral City Public Library located at 33530 Date Palm Drive.

The beautification project, organized by the Cathedral City Public Arts Commission, requested local artists to submit designs to paint art murals on fourteen outdoor public benches surrounding the public library and one public bench at Memorial Park.  More than 70 submissions were received from local artists and the top fifteen were approved by the art commission and city council.  Those fifteen benches are now completed and available to the public to view and appreciate.

Each artist will receive a $1,000 stipend from the public art fund for painting the murals. A dedication video of the event that showcases the benches will be made available soon.
