Project Location: Perez Road from Cathedral Canyon Drive to Date Palm Drive
Project Status: Currently in Design Phase
Project Overview
The City of Cathedral City has been awarded funding under Senate Bill 821 Bicycle and Pedestrian Facilities Program to construct Class IV separated bikeways (protected bike lanes) on Perez Road. This infrastructure improvement will enhance safety and connectivity for cyclists while maintaining vehicle access.
Planned Improvements
The project will include:
- New signage throughout the project corridor
- Fresh striping to clearly define bike and vehicle lanes
- Asphalt rehabilitation to improve road conditions
- Physical separation elements such as curbs, delineators, bollards, or other vertical barriers between bike lanes and driving lanes
Project Timeline
The project is currently in the design phase. Construction timelines and traffic impact information will be announced as the project progresses through final design and permitting.
What are Class IV Separated Bikeways?
Class IV separated bikeways are “protected bike lanes” located on the street with physical separation between the bikeway and driving lanes. This design provides enhanced safety for cyclists while maintaining efficient traffic flow for vehicles.
