Kitt Leads in the “Cat City Drag Race”

It was another packed house at The Roost Lounge last night in Cathedral City as the audience cheered on their favorite contestant in the Cat City Drag Race. They were not disappointed as every contestant brought out their very best and were competing to win in the category of “Showtunes.” In fact, after the judges scores less than 1 point differentiated first place from fourth place. The top 4 contestants were Kitt with 42.5 points, Sheena Wolfe with 42.3 points, Sue Madre with 41.7 points and Miss Bea Haven with 41.4 points. Judges included City Representative Kevin Biersack, Celebrity Judge Jayla D. Foxx, GED Magazine’s Eric Davis, KGAY 106.5 FM’s Brad Fuhr, and Transgender Health and Wellness Director Thomi Clinton.

Like the three weeks prior, things got “shady” with the “Wheel of Shade” where the contestants give or take away points from an opponent of their choice based on their spin. Five of the eight contestants gave points to their opponent, most chose a low scoring contestant to “donate” the points. However, the real shade happened when Miss Bea Haven spun the wheel and took away three points from Sue Madre, sending her from third place to 7th place. The “favor” was returned just seconds later when Sue Madre spun and took three points away from Miss Bea Haven, sending her from fourth place to eighth place. Now, that’s shady!

After the Wheel of Shade spin, the top four contestants were Paulie Ester with 42.5 points, Sheena Wolfe with 42.3 points, Ashley Araya Sparks with 42.1 points, and Kitt with 41.5 points. Just 1 point separated the first place contestant from the fourth place contestant. It was that close!

In the end, the audience always gets the last vote! Based on the loudest cheer via a decibel meter, Sheena Wolfe came in second with 106.2 decibels and Kitt came in number one with 108.3 decibels. Nearly two decibels separated the audience support. Again, super close! With 25 audience points going to the victor, Kitt won Week 4 of the contest with 66.5 points, followed by Paulie Ester with 42.5 points, Sheena Wolfe with 42.3 points, and Ashley Araya Sparks with 42.1 points.

Here are the total points and rankings up to the fourth week of the competition:
1. Kitt, 219 points
2. Angelique VaGorgeous, 186.1 points
3. Sue Madre, 177.7 points
4. Sheena Wolfe, 174.1 points

*Miss Bea Haven missed one week of the competition, but all contestants will drop their lowest score for the contest finale. Shelly B. Down has withdrawn from the race.

Next Monday, October 7th, the Grand Finale of the competition happens at Trunks Bar Cathedral City located at 36737 Cathedral Canyon Drive, across from Sunshine Café. Special judge guests include Mayor Mark Carnevale, Manny the Movie Guy, and Anya Camins Brinnand, the current “Queen of the Desert.” The contestants will compete for the Week 5 win and the calculations will be tabulated to provide an answer as to “Who Will Survive the Shadiness?” and become the “Royal Highness of Cat City!” It’s the Season Finale! Get there early, find a seat, bring some dollars to tip, and have fun!
