LGBTQ Art Exhibit Opening Reception Happens This Friday

The Cathedral City Public Arts Commission will hold an Opening Reception for the LGBTQ Art Exhibit on Friday, March 15th at 5:00 pm at the City’s Cultural Arts Museum.  The reception will honor LGBTQ artists living in Cathedral City whose work is featured in the exhibit.  The public arts commission decided to host the art exhibit in coordination with the upcoming Cathedral City LGBT Days pride festival being held on March 29-31, 2019.

Beyond the opening reception, the LGBTQ art exhibit will be showcased every Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the City’s Cultural Arts Museum starting on Saturday, March 16, 2019 through Sunday, April 20, 2019.  The museum is located on the east end of City Hall in Downtown Cathedral City near the Mary Pickford Theater, 68-700 Avenida Lalo Guerrero, Cathedral City.  Admission and parking are both free for the opening reception and art exhibit.

In addition to the art exhibit, the Cathedral City Historical Society showcases an ongoing exhibit featuring images and memorabilia of Cathedral City’s early years located inside the Cultural Arts Museum.

The Cathedral City Public Arts Commission’s mission serves to collect and preserve art from local and renowned artists and is funded by developer fees.  Composed of five local residents who are appointed to three-year terms by the City Council, CCPAC meets once a month in Council Chambers on the 2nd Monday of each month starting at 5:30 pm.  The agenda for each meeting and video of the meetings are available on the City’s website at:  www.CathedralCity.gov.
