Local Nonprofit “Dinner with Patsi” Honored at 2025 DBA Impact Awards

The Desert Business Association celebrated excellence in the Coachella Valley business community at their annual Impact Awards ceremony held Monday evening at the Palm Springs Convention Center. The gala event, which took place on May 5th from 5-9 PM, recognized trailblazers and changemakers whose dedication has uplifted the region.

Among this year’s distinguished honorees was Cathedral City’s own “Dinner with Patsi,” which received the Outstanding Community Service Organization award. The nonprofit, led by Patsi Kocan, was recognized for its significant contributions to the local community.

Cathedral City showed strong support for the hometown honoree, with Mayor Pro Tem Raymond Gregory and Assistant City Manager Anne Ambrose in attendance at the ceremony. Their presence highlighted the city’s pride in the valuable community service provided by Dinner with Patsi.

The evening was emceed by KESQ’s Peter Daut and featured a special performance by Nikki Blonsky, star of the movie “Hairspray.” The entertainment was sponsored by GED Magazine.

Other honorees at the ceremony included:

  • Stonewall Gardens Assisted Living (Business of the Year)
  • Bob Smiland of Desert Hand Car Wash (Businessperson of the Year)
  • Palm Springs Police Department (Outstanding Community Service Leader)
  • Lisa Middleton, Former Palm Springs Mayor and Council Member (Legacy Award)

The Desert Business Association, which serves as the Desert’s LGBTQ+ Chamber, hosts this annual event not only to recognize excellence but also to raise funds. Proceeds from the event benefit youth educational scholarships through Safe Schools Desert Cities, helping to support the next generation of community leaders.

The Impact Awards continue to highlight the diverse and vibrant business community of the Coachella Valley, with “Dinner with Patsi” standing as a shining example of Cathedral City’s commitment to community service and excellence.
