One Week to Go for the District 1 Special Election in Cathedral City

All 4,059 ballots have been sent to registered voters in Cathedral City’s District 1 for the Special Election.  This special election is a vote by mail only.  As of August 16, 2019, just 883 ballots have been returned for voting.  That equates to roughly 21% of the total ballots being returned.  Voters in District 1 have just one more week to mail-in their ballots and have their voices heard.  There will be no polling places on election day, which is Tuesday, August 27, 2019.

The Special Election is for the purpose of electing one member to the City Council to fill a vacant seat in District One.  This term will expire once the November 2020 Election Results have been certified by the Registrar of Voters Office and accepted by the City Council.

The Riverside County Registrar of Voters will be conducting this election for the City and all ballots will be mailed, received and counted by their office.

There are two qualified candidates seeking office:

Shelley Kaplan

Rita Lamb
