State Indoor Mask Mandate to Expire on Tuesday

Governor Newsom announced this week that the State Indoor Mask Mandate will expire on Tuesday, February 15, mainly due to a 65% drop in COVID-19 cases since the peak of the Omicron variant back in January.  This means that fully vaccinated individuals are not required to wear a face mask indoors; however, unvaccinated individuals are still required to wear a face mask.

The City Council of Cathedral City decided at its February 9th meeting to continue to follow State guidelines with regards to the coronavirus and all mask requirements.

If you are unvaccinated and would like to get vaccinated, you can go to almost any neighborhood pharmacy to get the coronavirus vaccine.  Recent real-world data shows that unvaccinated individuals are five times more likely to become infected, 11 times more likely to be hospitalized with the disease and more than 15 times more likely to die from COVID-19 than vaccinated individuals.
