On Monday, City crews installed the “Swiss Cheese” art sculpture at the northwest corner of Panorama Park (Calada Road and Peladora Road). Commissioned by the self-taught artist, Simi Dabah, this beautiful metal art piece is left in its natural state, rusting to a warm patina. Mr. Dabah donated this sculpture to the Cathedral City Public Arts Commission many years ago. It was most recently placed near the police department in downtown but was moved to make room for the memorial for our fallen Cathedral City Police Officers David Vasquez and Jermaine Gibson, Sr.
Park visitors will also enjoy the new art sculpture entitled, “Passages,” created by Steve “Shig” Shigley that honors the sacrifices of law enforcement and first responders. This new sculpture is located at the northeast corner of Panorama Park (Avenida Maravilla and Peladora Road). These new art sculptures are part of the City’s Art in Public Places Program with the purpose and intent to promote the general welfare of the public through the acquisition and installation of public art works.
Go take a stroll through Panorama Park and enjoy these newly placed pieces of art.
