The “Old Gays” Honored by City Council at LGBT Days

On Saturday, March 26th, the City Council honored four Cathedral City residents, Robert Reeves, Mick Peterson, Jessay Martin, and Bill Lyons on the Main Stage during Cathedral City LGBT Days.  These four gentlemen are known on social media as the “Old Gays,” and they provide comical entertainment in short video clips about pop culture from a gay senior point of view.

Their popularity has reached stardom level with more than 7 million followers from around the world and over a billion views of their video clips.  They have appeared on the Today Show and the Drew Barrymore Show. Many Hollywood celebrities have shot cameos appearances on their video clips.  Since their recent fame, the Old Gays have been hired to pitch BudLight Seltzer and Shake Shack restaurants.  They are scheduled to appear on American Horror Story and RuPaul’s Drag Race and soon to have their very own Docuseries on HBO Max.  Many in the industry have referred to them as the “Golden Girls” of our time.

The City Council of Cathedral City recognized their immense accomplishment and proclaimed Saturday, March 26, 2022 at “Old Gays” Day in Cathedral City.  Each honoree received a framed proclamation for this historical moment.
