Community Update by Curt Watts
Economic Development Director

Help Welcome our New Cathedral City Businesses to Town!

It’s always exciting to share the news of new businesses coming to Cathedral City - and to encourage our community to stop by and become loyal customers. Here are a few of the new additions to share with you ….

Umami Seoul - A new Cathedral City restaurant offering Japanese and Korean cuisine, including traditional Korean BBQ. Umami Seoul was featured as the lead article in the October 4th Food & Drink section of The Desert Sun. The restaurant opened at 67555 E. Palm Canyon Drive #A (across from Trader’s Joe’s and Target) on September 10 with plans for a grand opening event later this month. The owners, Hiro and Mimi Kim, previously operated Wasabi, a popular Palm Springs restaurant on S. Indian Canyon Drive. The urge to share their cooking with others brought the operators back out of retirement.

La Michoacana Ice Cream Parlor – Offering its 100% natural fruit bars, authentic traditions of Mexican ice cream and a variety of candy selections, the Bermudez family has opened its fourth location, and the only one in the Coachella Valley, at the Stater Brothers shopping center at Vista Chino and Landau. A ribbon cutting event for La Michoacana Ice Cream Parlor was held on August 8 in cooperation with the Cathedral City Chamber of Commerce. Located at 27765 Landau Blvd, #106, they will hold a special Open House on Monday, October 31st at 5:00 pm. This festive business is sure to please your sweet tooth with its many fine offerings.

Regency Cathedral City 10 Theatres – Scheduled to open prior to Thanksgiving, southern California based Regency Theatres will soon be providing area residents and visitors with a an opportunity to once again experience bargain movies at the Cathedral City Marketplace at Date Palm and Dinah Shore. The theatre building’s exterior has been recently repainted and the Regency Theatres name has been installed on the multi-tenant sign facing Dinah Shore. The operators, Lyndon Golin and his brother Andy Golin, look forward to becoming an active and successful part of the Cathedral City community. This 10-screen location is in addition to their 28 other cinema operations throughout Southern California, Arizona and Nevada. Visit them soon at 34491 Date Palm Drive.
