February 2 @ 5:00 pm - 11:00 pm
Event Series Event Series (See All)

Save the date to celebrate the sights, sounds, and tastes of the state of Jalisco, Mexico at the 8th Annual Taste of Jalisco Festival presented by Agua Caliente Casinos, to be held February 2 – 4, 2024, in downtown Cathedral City. This annual celebration honors the 27-year sister city relationship between Cathedral City and Tequila, Jalisco (Mexico) through culture, cuisine, music, and fashion.

The weekend includes a family-friendly carnival which has doubled in size from previous years, artisan craft vendor market, tequila tastings with a tequila tasting competition, plus authentic Mexican cuisine and a Sunday car show. Daily entertainment at the Jalisco Community Stage will feature local and regional musical groups and acts celebrating Mexican art and culture.

Headlining this year’s festival is a live performance of the Legends of Lucha Libre Mexicana at 6 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday nights. Lucha Libre has played an important role in Mexican culture since the late 1950s. The sport became famous mainly due to its masked wrestlers, who incorporated their own family traditions, beliefs, and fears into the design of their masks, transforming an ordinary person into a fearless character.

Saturday’s wrestling matches feature Champion Tinieblas Jr. with Alushe along with PWR tag team champions Lucha Solos: Galeno Del Mal, Super Astro Jr., Rey Leon, Fatal, and many more. Sunday evening’s performance will feature the women’s championship match of Keyra vs. Barones, plus Solar, Solar Jr, Damian 666, Bestia 666, and White Tiger, among others. Discounted presale tickets for the entertaining performances are available through November 20.

“The Taste of Jalisco is one of our city’s signature events which we look forward to each year,” said Cathedral City Mayor Rita Lamb. “It’s the perfect opportunity for people of all ages to come enjoy a fun-filled weekend and celebrate the connection with our sister city, Tequila, Jalisco. We also want to thank presenting sponsor Agua Caliente Casinos for their involvement and continued community support.”

The Sister City relationship was first established in 1996 when the two cities entered into a formal Sister Cities agreement. Since then, exchanges between the Cities included art, culture, governmental best practices, youth-focused educational opportunities, donation of firefighting equipment, and firefighter training, among others.

Admission to the festival is pre-sale $4 per person – available online and $6 at the door (children under 5 free). Carnival rides, wrestling show, food, and drink are additional fees. “Legends of Lucha Libre” tickets start at $16 pre-sale and are available at tasteofjalisco.com. VIP tickets which include a meet and greet, and other benefits are also available.

Event hours are Friday from 5 to 11 p.m., Saturday noon to 11 p.m., and Sunday noon to 9 p.m. Festivities take place in downtown Cathedral City, at 68600 East Palm Canyon Drive. Parking is free. For tickets and more information about the Taste of Jalisco Festival visit tasteofjalisco.com.
