Six Firefighters / Paramedics Graduate from CCFD Academy

On March 1st, the Cathedral City Fire Department held graduation ceremonies for six new Cathedral City firefighters / paramedics who recently went through the Cathedral City Fire Department Academy that trains firefighters on the policies and procedures in accordance to our fire department. Family, friends, fire department personnel, City Council, and city staff joined in on the celebration.

In addition, Congressman Raul Ruiz provided the keynote address thanking the firefighters for their call to service and bravely putting their own lives in danger to protect and save the lives of others. Partial funding for the six new firefighters will come from a Federal Emergency Management Agency – Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response 2018-2021 Grant. Other funding comes from the City’s general fund.

Graduates include Taylor Burchartz, Dustin Emter, Riley Fehser-Wey, Dylan McCrum, Joe Richardson, and Kenny Skinner. This was the single largest Academy graduation of firefighters since the beginning of the fire department thirty years ago.

The CCFD is now staffed with forty-six full-time positions who answer the call of duty to provide life safety and fire protection for the residents and visitors of Cathedral City.
