Cathedral City Police Report: 4th of July Fireworks Enforcement Results

The Cathedral City Police Department has released statistics from their fireworks enforcement efforts during the recent Independence Day holiday, highlighting the department’s commitment to public safety during one of the year’s most active celebration periods.

Enforcement Summary

During the evening hours of July 4th extending into July 5th, the Cathedral City Police Department received over 65 calls for service regarding illegal fireworks being detonated throughout the city. In response to these reports, CCPD deployed a specialized fireworks suppression detail composed of both Police Officers and Code Compliance Officers to address the violations across the community.

The enforcement efforts resulted in significant action against illegal fireworks activity. Five adults were arrested for violating Health & Safety Code 12700(b)(1) – possession of fireworks, which is classified as a misdemeanor offense. These individuals were issued citations as part of the legal process. Additionally, two other individuals received Administrative Citations for disruptive activities related to the fireworks violations.

Confiscated Materials

Throughout the evening, officers confiscated several illegal fireworks from various locations across Cathedral City. The confiscated items included a variety of prohibited fireworks that pose safety risks to residents and property when used improperly or in unauthorized areas.
