Cathedral City is proud to announce a pivotal milestone for one of the Coachella Valley’s most cherished celebrations. At the Cathedral City Council meeting on September 16, 2026, the City Council voted unanimously (5-0) to officially change the name of the annual event from Cathedral City LGBT+ Days to Cathedral City Pride.
In addition to the official rebranding, the Council approved moving the event’s dates to March 12–14, 2027.
This decision marks a significant positive evolution for the annual festival. Transitioning to Cathedral City Pride provides clearer national and regional identity, while shifting the dates slightly to allow for greater participation, elevated tourism, and stronger collaboration with neighboring communities and events.
“We are thrilled by the City Council’s unanimous support and vision for the future of this event,” said Michael Westman, Marketing Manager for Montage Agency/Montage Events. “Renaming the event to Cathedral City Pride honors the spirit and heritage of the LGBTQ+ community while positioning it for continued growth. Aligning our dates more strategically across the regional calendar ensures a vibrant, high-energy weekend that residents, visitors, and sponsors can look forward to year after year.”
First launched as a vibrant local celebration, Cathedral City Pride has grown into a premiere destination event featuring live music, performances, community gatherings, and local vendor marketplaces. The updated name and new March dates reflect a refreshed commitment to inclusivity, community pride, and local economic growth.
“Cathedral City has built a reputation as one of the most welcoming cities in California, and this name carries that forward,” said Ryan Hunt, Director of Communications & Engagement for the City of Cathedral City. “Ten years under the LGBT+ Days name built something remarkable. Pride is the word the LGBTQ+ community already uses, and it makes room for everyone who has made this event what it is — the volunteers and civic leaders who started it, the families who fill our amphitheater and downtown, and the visitors who now plan their year around it.”
Planning for the inaugural Cathedral City Pride (March 12–14, 2027) is already underway, with full festival schedules, talent lineups, and ticket information to be announced in the coming months.
