Two Family Fun Events Coming Up
Next Week in Cathedral City
The City of Cathedral City is pleased to sponsor two family fun events, the annual Cathedral City High School Homecoming Parade and the annual Cathedral City Halloween Spooktacular, next week here in Downtown Cathedral City.
Cathedral City High School Homecoming Parade and Rally
Bring the lawn chairs, sun hat or sunscreen, and some water in preparation to cheer on the annual Cathedral City High School Homecoming Parade. The parade will have a NEW route this year. Instead of going down East Palm Canyon Drive, the parade will go down Cathedral Canyon Drive from Perez Road to Avenida Lalo Guerrero. It will then turn left onto Avenida Lalo Guerrero until it ends in front of City Hall for the Homecoming Rally. The parade kicks-off at 4:30 pm and features the marching band, cheer teams, students from elementary to high school, and the Senior Varsity Football Team.
With increased security measures, both northbound and southbound traffic of Cathedral Canyon Drive between Perez Road and East Palm Canyon Drive (Highway 111) in Cathedral City will be temporarily closed and re-routed on Thursday, October 24, 2019 between 3:00 pm and approximately 5:00 pm. Motorists should use an alternate route such as Date Palm Drive and expect traffic delays due to the detour of traffic from this major north – south artery. Access to area businesses will be limited to secondary streets. Public parking for the Homecoming Parade is available at the City Downtown Parking Garage with access to enter and exit from Officer David Vasquez Road (see map for more details).
Cathedral City’s Annual Halloween Spooktacular
Cathedral City’s Halloween Spooktacular features trick or treating with over 30,000 pieces of candy! Join friends, neighbors and family for a Spooktacular time including activities such as Halloween costume contests (two bikes given away each hour), Cathedral City High School Ballet Folklorico, police and fire exhibitions, music, and family games. We also have partnered with LifeStream who will be conducting a blood drive so parents have an opportunity to save lives for Halloween.
Come hungry this year as A Liberty Catering will offer some great lunch items and thirst quenching beverages for purchase. Eat at the Halloween Spooktacular picnic tables or bring a blanket for a picnic in the park.
In addition, the Mary Pickford Theatre will conduct a free showing of Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride movie at 3 pm for the first 135 guests who line up at the theatre.
