Cathedral City Senior Center Honors the City of Cathedral City

On Tuesday, February 22nd, the Cathedral City Senior Center held its 40th Anniversary Celebration to a sold-out crowd of supporters.  The event was originally scheduled for last October but had to be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.  Hosted by KESQ’s News Anchor Peter Daut and a special performance by Broadway, film and television actor, singer, director and producer Sam Harris, the gala event recognized the senior center’s historic presence in Cathedral City and its wonderful accomplishments made throughout the years.  It also served as a fundraiser to expand programming and services.

During the event, the Senior Center recognized two honorees.  They included Tim Wood and Jim Scheibel and Tim Wood – State Farm for their incredible efforts to raise funds and food donations to the Senior Center’s food bank.  Additionally, Executive Director Geoff Corbin presented an award to Mayor Ernesto Gutierrez acknowledging the City of Cathedral City’s financial commitment to the Senior Center over the years, but also the elected officials and staff who have personally supported the Senior Center by donating, volunteering, or serving on its board of directors during its 40-year history.

The Cathedral City Senior Center promotes healthy aging, independence, and the wellbeing of older adults through nutrition, health wellness, educational, cultural, and recreational programs and services.
