Calling All Artists
Ocotillo Park Bench Painting Project

Would you like to leave your creative mark in Cathedral City? The Cathedral City Public Arts Commission is seeking artists to collaborate on a park beautification project. Ocotillo Park is a bustling neighborhood park that offers a range of amenities including ball fields, a basketball court, skateboard park, tennis court, tot lot, splash pad, and barbeque areas. It is a popular park for area residents and serves a wide array of interests and age groups. Within the park are twenty-three (23) concrete benches that the Public Arts Commission is seeking artists to paint with their original artwork to add a colorful and playful element to the park to enhance the community's experience. The Ocotillo Park Bench Project meets the Public Arts Commission's goal of making public art accessible throughout the City.

Selected artists will receive a stipend of $500. The City will prime and paint a top-coat on the finished benches with a graffiti-resistant coating. Artists age sixteen or older at the time of submission are eligible. The application deadline to submit art for consideration is May 31, 2024 with painting scheduled to be completed the weekend of October 11-13, 2024. More details are available in the Call for Artists.
